I’ve been to the Lake of the Ozarks before when I was young. I had a blast because the friend I was staying with had two Jet-skis and a boat, and we spent the whole week on the water burning through as much gas as humanly possible. I learned to wake board that week (and then never tried it again).
This trip was a little different. There were 8 couples and two single guys, all staying in one huge house on a corner lot of the lake; all high school friends, coming together to have one helluva good time. There was an amazing infinity pool that blended right into the lake and a hot tub. We spent nearly all weekend on the pool patio, enjoying adult beverages and catching up.
It would have been nice to have a boat at this place because it had an awesome dock, but we found a place nearby to rent one for the day and take turns going for a cruise. The thing about the lake there is it is almost always choppy because of all the big boats cruising by. But if you can find a cove to duck into, you can find some smoother water. The time we spent on the water was mostly spent checking out all the cool houses on the water. There is a wide variety of houses, from some modest houses, to crazy mansions with helicopter pads. And the boats there… some insane yachts. We were lucky enough to catch a ride on the biggest boat I’ve ever been on in my life. A 63 foot yacht that was a friend of a friends. Such nice people. We went to Backwater Jacks for some amazing sushi and great drinks. The pool they have there has little bar tables everywhere so you can wade out and stay cool while having your drinks. The sushi was amazing and the ambiance, incredible. Its even cooler at night with all the lighting showing. They have a really cool outline of the lake that is back lit that really sets off the back drop.
Over all this trip was 5+ out of 5. We lived a little outside our means for this trip, but it was well worth it. It was nice to live like we make twice as much money as we really do for a weekend.
For anyone looking for a great place to stay with a large group check out this property.
